Broad Valley comprises a 6,050-hectare land package, 100% owned by Sable Ridge Metals. The property hosts pegmatitic granites and metamorphic gneiss, and was acquired targeting lithium, tin, tantalum and niobium.

Artisanal mining is active in the eastern section of the tenement. The exploration strategy focuses on artisanal workings and mineralised outcrops as primary targets.

Tin and niobium mineralisation is hosted within structures that extend into the eastern portion of the tenement, making this area prospective for new discoveries.

Project stage
  1. Target
Satellite mapping and ranking of pegmatite outcrops
  2. Sample
Rock-chip and trench sampling, independent assays
  3. Permit
    Environmental approval and mining licence
  4. Develop

Highlights
  • 6,050 Ha — largest tenement in the portfolio
  • Active artisanal tin workings in the east
  • Tin–niobium structures open to the east

Geology

Why pegmatites carry so much

LCT (lithium–caesium–tantalum) pegmatites are the last, most chemically evolved fraction of a granite melt. As the magma cools, the elements that don't fit ordinary minerals — lithium, tin, tantalum, niobium — concentrate into these coarse-grained dykes.

In the Mwenda Belt the dykes intrude a metamorphic gneiss basement and weather out at surface, which is why artisanal miners have been able to work them by hand since the 1930s — and why modern sampling can test grade without drilling first.
