High-grade lithium discovery featuring up to 8.5% Li₂O at the Kalimba Project

Sable Ridge Metals, a UK-based mining exploration company, has announced the discovery of high-grade lithium-bearing pegmatites at its Kalimba Project. Rock-chip sampling confirmed lithium grades reaching up to 8.5% Li₂O, with a number of samples above 6% Li₂O.

Independent laboratory analysis and X-ray diffraction show the pegmatites contain spodumene, montebrasite and lepidolite. The highest-grade samples feature montebrasite, an ore valued for its low impurity levels and premium pricing relative to spodumene. The pegmatite-bearing zone is approximately 1 km wide with more than 2 km of strike and remains open in all directions.

Alex Morgan, Chief Executive, said: “These results indicate not only spodumene but also montebrasite — an ore renowned for its low impurity levels and a higher spot price than spodumene — is present.”

Across the wider portfolio, a new 380-hectare exploration licence immediately north-east of Kalimba was granted in September 2024 with 40 further pegmatite targets identified.
